11/18/1936 – 6/18/2025
This year, we lost a wonderful person, an animal lover, and one of our founders. Marlene worked tirelessly in founding and getting our rescue up and running back in 2015. She helped secure our location and has handled all of our financial matters since our opening. She loved all animals, especially dogs, and was so excited to have this opportunity to open a rescue and save lives.
We are all heartbroken and will miss her more than we can say.
2013 – 8/16/2025
We rescued Noah from a local shelter on his last day back in 2016. He has been the longest resident here at our sanctuary. Although Noah never got to live inside a home — not for lack of trying — he was deeply loved by his family here at Home Free.
Noah was adopted twice, but came back to us both times — he tended to not like people he didn’t know, and we took him back and loved him until the end. He had his special people that he liked, but his favorite was definitely Bradley. He and Bradley took long walks together both around the neighborhood and in the Back Bay. Bradley was one of the few people who could snuggle and love on Noah. Noah had a good life here at the sanctuary, but at age 12, after a burst splenic mass, we had to say goodbye to him. His favorite people surrounded him with love at the end. We will never forget him.
